Who we are

ElkStone Basements is a Colorado family company, founded in 2009, that designs and finishes basements. We have 3,800+ basements finished across Colorado and Utah (as of September 2026), and Central Ohio is our newest market.

We are new to Ohio, so we will say it plainly: we do not have Ohio projects or Ohio reviews to show you yet. What we bring is a design and building process we have refined basement by basement, and a commitment to earn your trust one home at a time.

What we believe

Our purpose is to bless and enrich the lives of everyone we work with: homeowners, trade partners and everyone at ElkStone. Three values guide how we work:

  • Humility. We listen first, and we own it when something needs fixing.
  • Teamwork. Your designer, project manager and trade partners all work from one plan.
  • Continuous improvement. Every basement teaches us something we use on the next one.

How a basement comes together

  1. A conversation. How you want to use the space: a family room, a guest suite, a gym, a bar.
  2. An in-home design visit. We measure and talk through layout, bedrooms and egress windows, bathrooms and finishes.
  3. Your design and a detailed proposal. Drawn by your designer, priced line by line by our estimating team.
  4. Permits to final inspection. One project manager coordinates permits, trade partners and inspections.

Built for Central Ohio homes

Central Ohio basements are not Colorado basements. Clay soils hold water, so every design we draw here includes moisture planning: grading, drainage and the materials that go against foundation walls. We finish basements; we are not a waterproofing company. If your basement takes on water today, a waterproofing specialist should fix that first.

Central Ohio is also in EPA Radon Zone 1, the highest-risk level. Where radon mitigation is part of an ElkStone project, it is performed by an Ohio-licensed radon mitigation contractor.

Are you local?

We are new to Ohio. ElkStone started in Colorado and has finished basements across Colorado and Utah. Central Ohio is our newest market, and before you sign anything we will tell you exactly who is on your project.

When can I book a design consultation?

We are scheduling Central Ohio consultations as our first Ohio designer comes on board. Send the form and we will contact you as appointments open.

What does a finished basement cost?

It depends on size, layout, bathrooms and finishes. You get a detailed, line-by-line proposal after your design visit. We do not publish Ohio prices before we have built here.

Do you do waterproofing?

No. We finish basements. If water is coming in, fix that first with a waterproofing specialist. We plan for moisture in every design.

Which areas do you serve?

We are starting in Powell, Lewis Center, Dublin and Delaware County, and adding communities as we grow.
